GET THE LIBRARY EDIT

Your library has thousands of books.

You only need a few really good ones.

Maybe you've been there...

  • searching the catalog while your children are waiting

  • bringing home a giant stack and discovering nobody wants to read it

  •  scrolling for recommendations when you'd rather just be reading

  • You need someone you trust to narrow it down.

  •  The goal isn’t to give you more to do.

  • You don’t need another giant book list.

You need someone you trust to narrow it down.

That’s what The Library Edit is for.

HOW IT WORKS

Three simple steps. That's it.

01

START WITH THE SECTION THAT FITS YOUR CHILD

Find the shelf that best fits your child right now.

02

LOOK FOR “FIND THIS ONE FIRST”

That’s my top pick for that reading stage. If it’s available, you’ve got a great place to begin

03

CHOOSE A FEW MORE

Add a few books that fit your child—or take the printable Library List with you.

Circle 3–5 before you go. You absolutely do not need them all.

Three reading stages + a Baby Basket. One easy place to begin.

YOUR SHORTCUT TO A BETTER LIBRARY TRIP

  • You don’t need more books. You need an easier way to choose them.
  • You do not need to purchase a new stack of books every month.

I choose established, library-friendly titles whenever possible, then give you plenty of options so you can work with what's available in your own library system.

The Library Edit is designed to help you make better use of the library you already have.

Can't find my first pick?

Choose another book from the shelf—or use the included librarian prompt to find something similar.

Less searching. Less second-guessing. More reading together.

Less searching. Less second-guessing. More reading together.

WHY THE LIBRARY EDIT IS DIFFERENT

CURATED, NOT CROWDED.

The best book isn't always the newest or most popular one. I narrow the choices and tell you where I'd start.

BUILT FOR REAL FAMILY READING.

Choose a few books that fit your child, your season, or what your family is navigating right now.

YOU DON'T NEED A LESSON PLAN.

Choose one book.

Ask one question.

Or simply read together.

Everything else is optional.

That's enough.

Frequently Asked Questions

WHY TRUST DR. BILLEN'S PICKS?

Hi, I'm Dr. Monica Billen

I'm a literacy professor, former elementary teacher, reading researcher, and longtime children's-book curator.

I've spent years studying how children learn to read—and just as much time paying attention to which books make them want to keep reading.

The Library Edit brings those two worlds together:

reading expertise + really good books.

These are the kinds of books I'd actually look for when I walk into a library.

I've already done the searching, sorting, and narrowing down.

You get to enjoy the books.

Happy Reading!  Dr. Billen
